Taiwan's procuratorial authority on Tuesday set up a supervisory group to fight bribery and violence in the election of local leaders at the end of 2014.

Twenty-one local procuratorates also established sub-groups in order to supervise local elections.

Luo Ying-shay, head of the island's legal affairs administrative body, said that prosecuting organs are determined to strictly investigate electoral fraud to guarantee justice in election.

City mayors, including the mayors of Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung, and county and village magistrates on the island will be elected on Nov 29 of this year. Delegates from ethnic minority areas will also be elected on Nov. 29. It is estimated that more than 20,000 people have registered to run for election.
