An intermediary agent that helps Chinese women give birth in the US is being sued by a woman surnamed Li for recommending an illegal care center, the Beijing News reported.
According to Li, she paid 32,000 yuan to Shanghai-based Meibao Zhijia in 2013. However, Li soon discovered from the Internet that many of the care centers operated by the company were illegal.
In the end, Li stayed at a friend's home in the US before and after giving birth. Li asked Meibao Zhijia to pay her 75,000 yuan, including refund and compensation.
The company refused, saying that they had fulfilled their end of the contract by helping Li get the visa to the US and booking a room at their center.
