According to Ping'an Beijing, the official microblog of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, a young girl was found hanged to death in her house in Xicheng district. After an investigation, the police eliminated foul play as the cause of her death, the Beijing Evening News reported.

Beijing police received a report on May 12, saying that a girl had been discovered hanged in a house in Zhenwu­miao Ertiao, Xicheng district. The police conducted a field investigation, examined surveillance video, performed a postmortem and did DNA testing.

The official results contradicted various online rumors that the girl had called her mother reporting that a courier was trying to enter the house or that the family had lost 7,000 yuan ($1,120).
