Beijing police held another anti-terror drill on Thursday afternoon to address the complex counter-terrorism situation facing the capital.

At around 1 p.m., the drill involved two police helicopters and more than 30 special vehicles, said sources with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The vehicles carrying armed police officers from SWAT units, traffic control and other emergency response departments drove along the western and northern Sixth Ring Road, covering over 110 kilometers.

During the drill, two police helicopters above sent images to a control center in real time.

Over the past month, Beijing police has launched at least three anti-terror drills under increasing terror threats.

An explosion at a railway station in Urumqi, regional capital of northwest China's Xinjiang, on April 30 followed terrorist attacks at a train station in the southwestern city of Kunming in March and at Tian'anmen Square in the capital last October.

Sources with the bureau said they hope to improve combat capability and coordination in handling emergencies through the drills.
