2013 graduate students' employment rate at 67.4%

A blue paper published on Tuesday shows the graduation and employment status of Chinese students in 2013. Last year, the number of graduate students reached a record high of nearly seven million.

The initial employment rate for postgraduate students stood at over 85 percent. Employment rate for diploma holders was almost 80%, while the rate for undergraduate students was surprisingly low at less than 70 percent.

When it comes to salary, Phd graduates gets an average starting salary at almost nine thousand Yuan, or one and a half thousand US dollars, while college graduates and diploma holders earn around three thousand and two thousand yuan respectively.

The top five factors for students to consider when choosing a job are development prospects, skill relevance, welfare benefits, job stability and salary.
