Sudan's Khartoum State Education Ministry and the China Foundation for Peace and Development have signed an agreement to establish the Sino-Sudanese Friendship School in Omdurman city.

Hamad Qassim, Khartoum State's Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation said in the ceremony that "this project comes as an initiative by the Chinese people through the China Foundation for Peace and Development following the recent floods which recently hit the state and destroyed many schools."

"The cost of building the school amounts to 500,000 U.S. dollars and we will immediately begin implementation," he said.

Deputy Secretary General of the China Foundation for Peace and Development Ji Ping said that "many schools in Sudan have been damaged during the floods. Sudan hopes China would build a school or two and here we are responding."
