Fare dodgers on notice

Shanghai metro has dealt with 7,260 cases of fare dodging over the first four months of this year, down about 50 percent from the same period last year, the news website xinmin.cn reported Tuesday.

The metro will create a group of 2,000 officers to catch fare dodgers starting in the second half of this year, said Shao Weizhong, vice president of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group.

The uniformed officers will be qualified and trained to enforce the law, Shao told xinmin.cn.
