A woman called for police escorts in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu Province to accompany her as she purchased a 1.2 million yuan ($191,760) apartment in cash on Friday.
The property buyer, surnamed Song, decided to call Nanjing police after several banks refused to give her the full amount in fear for her safety.
Song told police the seller firmly insisted on making a cash deal.
Authorities arrived at Song's bank 10 minutes after calling, she explained.
"You know 1.2 million yuan is not a small number, and it took half an hour to simply finish counting it. We escorted her from start to finish until she closed the deal," said officer Wang Yingjun.
Song said that she had felt much safer with police presence.
She added she had gotten the idea to call police from a recent news report on how escorts can be requested when withdrawing large amounts of money.
