Most of the food-tracking machines placed in Beijing's supermarkets are barely used, the Life Times reported.

In order to ensure food safety, the government has been making efforts to construct a food-tracking system so that consumers can access information about a food item's processing, packaging, inspection and transportation by scanning the codes affixed to their labels. However, many consumers are unaware of the machines, and few people are actually using them.
