Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met on Tuesday with Jed Bernstein, president of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Liu said cultural exchanges have played an extraordinary role in promoting understanding and friendship between people of China and the United States, as well as building a new type of major-country relationship.

She voiced the hope that the Lincoln Center will continue to enhance cooperation with China, and contribute to the development of China-U.S. ties.

Bernstein succeeded Reynold Levy as the president of Lincoln Center in January this year.
