A Beijing kindergarten teacher accused of beating children for a year has been taken away by police for investigation.

Demanding an explanation, nearly 20 parents gathered at the Runze branch of the Wisdom Kindergarten on Qingyuan Lu on Monday with medical documents and pictures of bruised limbs, The Beijing News reported.

Security footage from Friday morning uploaded online by parents showed Liu Shuyun, 27, taking children aged between 4 and 5 to class, kicking three of them on the calves and shouting "Can you make a neat line?"

Other teachers appear but do not stop her.

Other footage shows Liu asking 21 children to walk to the restroom out of the camera's field of view. Two boys try to flee, but Liu grabs them.

Children can be heard screaming off-camera, with Liu yelling "You all like this, right?"

Parents burst into tears watching the footage, a father told the Global Times.

Parents say Liu hit the kids on the calves, head or back, and that children were forced not to cry while being abused.

Eight parents presented a doctor's diagnosis that their children suffered soft tissue injuries to their legs, the Beijing newspaper reported.

The Chaoyang district education commission has set up a special investigation team.

A private institute founded in 2009, Wisdom previously enjoyed a decent reputation in the neighborhood.

Parents have requested compensation and psychiatric help for their children.

Twenty-year-old kindergarten teacher Yan Yanhong from Wenling, Zhejiang Province, was detained in October 2012, after she uploaded photos to her personal website of boys being lifted by the ears and a taped child's mouth. They went viral online.

Yan lost her job, but was not punished before her release.
