Six people were killed in an explosion on Monday afternoon in northeast China's Liaoning province, local authorities said.

The blast took place at 2:00 pm at a tourist destination in the city of Fushun as two workers were making fireworks. Both staff and four passerby were killed at the scene in the scenic zone of the "Liaoshen Campaign", according to the city's publicity office.

The "Liaoshen Campaign", an abbreviation of Liaoning-Shenyang Campaign, was one of the three major campaigns top the end of Chinese Civil War. Two reenactment shows daily use more than 2,000 bullets and 600 mock-up shells.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
