The 2016 World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) Regional Convention will be held in Beijing's Daxing district from May 18 to 24, 2016, according to a recent press conference in Beijing.

The convention, hosted by the World Federation of Rose Societies, China Flower Association and the Beijing municipal government, will provide an opportunity for enterprises and individuals all over the world to share new technologies and applications in breeding, cultivation, and landscaping.

The logo – a colored drawing of Beijing's city flower - a China rose, and a mascot – in the form of a loveable moose, for the event were also unveiled at the conference.

Daxing, the host for the grand rose gathering, has an ever-expanding rose industry with a total of more than 1,000 varieties of China roses. Most China roses in Beijing's second and third ring area came from the district.

It plans to add an area of 5,000 mu (333 hectares) for rose planting in the future and will also develop a full industrial chain to integrate rose development with agriculture and tourism, as well as culture and creation.

The official website for the event - www.rosebeijing2016.org - was released at the press conference. Visitors can get updates about the event and learn more about roses online.

The World Federation of Rose Societies, founded in 1968, is a non-commercial international organization with 41 member countries, including the United States, France and China. It aims to popularize information about roses worldwide.
