New ticketing system for metro

Beijing will undergo a subway fare adjustment in the second half of this year. Preparations for the new ticketing system, which include upgrading the automatic ticketing system and subway gates at all stations, are already underway, the Beijing News reported.

This new ticketing system is expected to go into effect by the end of October. During the transition period, some equipment will probably be out of use and new plans will be adopted to make sure that station entry and exits will not be obstructed.

Before implementing the new ticketing system, the subway operation company will also promote the relevant regulations and operating procedures that are scheduled to be completed before the end of July.
