Cleaner realizes dream

Last year, a video of Li Jing'ang, a street cleaner in his fifties who used surprisingly fluent English to discuss literature and international communications, went viral on the Internet. Li recently signed with a local education institute to realize his dream of teaching English in Beijing, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Li, who worked in the Nanluoguxiang area, was first noticed because he could give directions to foreign tourists in English. Originally from Zaozhuang, Shandong Province, where he retired from teaching English at a high school, Li came to Beijing last September. The education institute hired Li because of his passion for the English language and his initiative in talking to foreigners.
