Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Brazil's President of the Chamber of Deputies Henrique Eduardo Alves, saying he was satisfied with the momentum of the China-Brazil relationship.

The deepening and expanding cooperation in recent years has benefited the people of the two countries substantially, Xi said, adding that the relationship is increasingly of strategic and global significance.

"(I) have full confidence in the future of the China-Brazil relationship," said the Chinese leader.

Xi proposed that the two sides should boost their reciprocal cooperation in multiple areas with innovative thinking in accordance with their respective development strategies to set an example of equal and win-win cooperation among emerging countries.

Meanwhile, the two sides should increase exchanges between governments, legislatures, political parties and people of the two countries to enhance mutual understanding and lead the bilateral relationship to a new height.

Alves said he appreciated China's achievements of development as well as the efforts to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

It is the common aspiration of all people in Brazil to cement the relationship with China, and the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies stands ready to increase exchanges with the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, to facilitate bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Alves said.

Alves said he looked forward to the Chinese president's attendance at the upcoming BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Leaders Meeting, which is to be held later this year in Brazil.

Alves is visiting China from April 13 to 20 at the invitation of Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.
