Annual community running events, the "Puma Jinqiao 8K" and "Coca-Cola Happiness Run", were held in Jinqiao Biyun expatriate compound in Shanghai's Pudong New Area on Sunday, attracting more than 6,000 local and foreign participants.

Sportswear company Puma provided prizes for the first 10 runners across the line of the 8-km run, and each contestant received a commemorative medal.

The 2-km happiness run drew adults as well as children, with some dressing up in the spirit of the event. Coca-Cola provided recreational activities, such as picture taking and drawing, at the venue.

Each year over the past 12 years, around 5,000 people, nearly half of whom are expats, participate in events hosted by the Jinqiao district government with an aim to encourage running and a healthy lifestyle among corporate employees and community residents.
