Chinese, Myanmar VPs meet on ties

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met in Beijing on Tuesday with Myanmar Vice President Nyan Tun, who just attended the opening ceremony of China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year 2014 in Beijing.

Noting China and Myanmar share deep traditional friendship, Li said the two sides should respect each other, accommodate each other, cement political mutual trust and strengthen pragmatic cooperation, so as to push forward the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.

China is ready to work with Myanmar to promote the building of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and a closer community of common destiny between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), said the vice president.

Nyan Tun thanked China for paying great attention to Myanmar's rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN.

He said Myanmar is willing to make efforts to promote all-round cooperation with China and the in-depth development of ASEAN-China strategic partnership.
