22 trapped in SW China mine flood

Twenty-two workers have been trapped by a coal mine flood early on Monday morning in Qujing City in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The flooding occurred at 4:50 a.m. in a mine in Qilin District, where 26 workers were working underground, said the emergency office of the Qujing municipal government.

Local government authorities have sent rescue teams to the mine.

As of 11 a.m., four workers have been rescued.

Investigation into the incident is also under way.
