Snooker China Open: Ding Junhui cruises into next round

Ding Junhui takes on John Higgins in the last 16. Ding saw off Thailand's Thep-chaiya Un-Noo, while Higgins thrashed Michael White to make the stage. The match is ongoing with Ding leading.

Ding's fellow country-man Yu Delu faced Neil Robertson in an earlier contest. After Yu took the opener 87-37, Robertson gained control of the match, winning the next three frames in a row with a highest break of 60, here in the second.

Yu - who's in the last 16 of a ranking tournament for the first time in his career - then took the next three frames to lead 4-3. But, despite some good play, especially here where he lands perfectly on the yellow - it was Robertson who had the final say. With breaks of 91 points and 60, the Aussie closing out the match in nine frames, and will face Graeme Dott in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile in another third round match, Shaun Murphy was upset by Ricky Walden. Walden winning it 5-3, to also reach the last eight in Beijing.
