Electro therapy deletes unwanted memories

Chinese netizens were shocked when Dutch scientists recently announced the development of an electricity-based therapy that can spot-clean memories from a person's mind.

Researchers use electroconvulsive therapy, which can help reduce or disrupt the recall of specific negative memories, as a way to treat patients that suffer from depression, shock and other trauma.

Many curious Net users expressed a willingness to undergo such treatment.

"It is so amazing! I want to try it and delete all my past memories and get a new start," posted Sina Weibo user ajdmujf, adding, "I have been tortured by bad memories for four years."

Chu_Anne-Cici wrote, "I want to delete everything except memories of people I know." "I would just like to see if it's actually real," posted Laomiyy.

However, some criticized the ethics of selective erasing of memories and experiences.

"Just face reality - those memories really happened," commented Q1ngL1n

"I don't want to delete anything, because those are my experiences, both good and bad," wrote Wuqijourney.
