Box on bus causes bomb scare

A box thought to be left unattended on a city bus caused a momentary bomb scare among passengers in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

The driver of the Route 707 bus immediately hit the brakes after a woman pointed to a package next to the rear entrance and said there may be an explosive device inside.

The passenger explained that she had watched the man seated beside the box get off without taking it.

"It was right next to him, he couldn't have forgotten to take it," the woman told the driver.

About one nerve-racking minute passed before a man at the back of the bus fessed up as being the owner.

"What took you so long to answer?" some passengers were heard as saying.

The man explained the box contained computer parts and he placed it near the door because it was too bulky to move around.

The bus continued on its route after passengers verified the box's contents.
