Malaysia's Defence and acting Transport Minister says the country's military has dispatched aircraft and vessels to the area where floating debris was spotted by satellite in the southern Indian Ocean.   [Special coverage]

"Aircraft and vessels are going there. You know how huge the area is. Every lead is a hope. And we have been very consistent, we want to verify, we want to corroborate, we are in the process of verifying and corroborating the information." said Hishammuddin Hussein, Malaysian Defense & Acting Transport Minister.

Hussein told reporters he had not seen the satellite images and was on his way to meet with Australian officials in Kuala Lumpur. The minister said investigators hope they will be able to provide further information within a few hours.
