Investigators have discovered the runways of five airports near the Indian Ocean loaded into Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah's home-made flight simulator.   [Special coverage]

An unnamed source told local Malay daily newspaper "Berita Harian" the simulation programs are based on runways at the Male International Airport in Maldives, an airport owned by the US on Diego Garcia, and three other runways in India and Sri Lanka. All the airports have runway lengths of 1,000 meters.

At a press conference on Monday, Malaysia's acting transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein denied speculation that the plane could have landed at the US military base on Diego Garcia.

The unnamed source said it was too early to make any conclusions on the new findings, but the information will be investigated.
