A woman in Wuhan, Hubei province got her ponytail stuck in a subway car door and had to lean against the door waiting for it to open again at the last stop on Monday.

People screamed for help after the Line 2 train started pulling out of the Hongshan Square stop, a witness surnamed Yang said.

Yang saw a middle-aged woman in the next car with most of her ponytail stuck in the door. He called the subway staff, who could do nothing about it. Passengers tried to help the woman pull her hair back bit by bit, but failed.

The woman had to give up trying and leaned against the door for 13 stops until it reached the destination.

An unnamed subway spokesman said the doors were not allowed to open as passengers might be exposed to a 750-volt electric current.
