Weather interference to fight smog

Twenty million yuan ($3,231,853) will be invested in weather interference measures to dissipate Beijing's smog, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

The Beijing weather interference office under the Beijing Meteorological Bureau (BMB) will use the money on artificial precipitation, radar maintenance and artificial haze dissipation.

Other government departments also announced budget items for air cleaning. The Beijing Municipal Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision will spend 2.2 million yuan on air-cleaning equipment. The Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau will spend 13.44 million yuan on air pollution prevention and air quality monitoring.
