Beijing's high-end restaurants have recently accelerated their transformation to provide services to less-affluent consumers, the Beijing Business Today reported.
There have been several approaches implemented by restaurants to attract more consumers from the mass market. Certain restaurants that are well-known for their upscale Cantonese cuisine or seafood, such as Wanliuge and Shijingshan Seafood Plaza, have redesigned their menus to include more mid- and low-priced dishes. Other restaurants, such as Club 16, have started offering coupons on group purchasing websites to attract young consumers.
In addition, providing free water or tea has also become an effective way to lower expenses for consumers who are dining out.
