A cute wild panda proved a little less than cuddly after it wandered around a village for hours near the city of Longnan, Gansu province and bit a villager.

Residents of the village of Liziba watched as the endangered species perambulated down from the nearby mountains and into their backyards on Saturday.

Local farmer Guan Zhiquan was tending to his crops when the normally vegetarian visitor briefly abandoned his bamboo to chomp on Guan's right foot instead.

Employees at the Bikou station were called to help the panda find its way back to the mountains, while Guan was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

Located in the Baishuijiang National Nature Reserve, this marks the second panda encounter for the small village this winter.

Villager Wang Anfu claimed to have encountered one in a field a couple of weeks earlier.
