China on Sunday welcomed the adoption of a UN resolution which demands "rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access" of UN humanitarian aid in war-torn Syria, and called for a complete implementation.

"This resolution reflects the common expectation and request of international community on relief of Syrian humanitarian situation. China voted for the resolution," said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang in a press release.

"The (UN) Security Council demands that all parties, in particular the Syrian authorities, promptly allow rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access for UN humanitarian agencies and their implementing partners, including across conflict lines and across borders, in order to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches people in need through the most direct routes," No. 2139 resolution said.

"China urges all parties concerned in Syria to take concrete actions to fully implement No. 2139 resolution and ease the Syrian humanitarian situation," Qin said.

"We support international community to uphold the principle of neutrality and justice, abide by the guidelines of UN humanitarian aid, and provide constructive support to the resolution's implementation," Qin said.

"The relief of the Syrian humanitarian situation depends on political solution of Syrian issues. China urges both sides in the country to continue dialogue and negotiation, support the effort made by UN Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi, and continue the talks for eventual results," he added.
