A woman who swiped 40,000 yuan ($6,500) from a bank account with a found bankcard was charged with fraud on Monday, according to Chongqing Morning Post.

A sixth-grader at a local primary school admitted that he found the bankcard on the ground on Nov 2 and later recognized it belonged to a classmate, who shared the card's password with him when asking for his help with an ATM.

The boy did not return the card to his classmate, but withdrew 800 yuan and bought toys and snacks.

The girlfriend of the boy's father, Tuo Hong, told him not to do it again and took the card. However, she allegedly withdrew all the money from the card using the card's password, which was given by the boy.

The card owner, the classmate's mother, reported the case to the school and police on Nov 4.

Tuo turned herself in to the police as she worried she would be discovered.

The Ba'nan district prosecutor has brought a public prosecution against her.
