Shanghai Customs officers caught two suspects smuggling 96 kilograms of ivory into the city three days before the Spring Festival, local media reported.

The suspects arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on a flight from Africa. They were carrying four bags containing eight complete ivory figures and more than 200 pieces of ivory carvings and other products. Authorities said it was the largest ivory smuggling case by passengers ever uncovered in the city.
