A newspaper in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has called for donations to help an 11-year-old boy who suffers from a disfiguring bone disease get the treatment he needs.

The Tongxin county, Wuzhong boy was diagnosed with fibrous dysplasia, an extremely rare bone disease where the abnormal and uneven growth of fibrous bone tissue causes pronounced swelling. The condition has collapsed the bridge of his nose and protruded his upper jaw.

Surgeons at the Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, first proposed to replace his upper jaw, but delayed the operation due to the patient's young age.

Ma Jun, the boy's father, said his son's condition worsened in 2013 to the point he could hardly speak or eat.

Doctors have suggested another medical procedure to help the boy that would cost the family about 200,000 yuan ($32, 980) - an impossible sum for the family to pay without financial assistance.

If you wish to make a donation, please contact Ma Jun at (+86) 15695071769 or Ding Yuzhong (uncle) at (+86) 13895314928.
