Average Internet speed climbs

China's average Internet speed reached 3.45Mb/s in 2013, a 33.2 percent increase from the fourth quarter in 2012, the Beijing Times reported on Tuesday.

Shanghai, with an average Internet speed of 5.4Mb/s, ranked number one in the nation, followed by Beijing, with an average Internet speed at 4.17Mb/s.

Some 41.56 percent of the Internet users have cable speed between 256Kb/s - 2Mb/s and 40.17 percent have cable speed between 2Mb/s - 5Mb/s.
