Cancer statistics issued

Lung cancer is the most common type of cancer in men and breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in Shanghai, the city's disease control center said.

About 1.79 of every 100 residents have been diagnosed with cancer. Every day, 150 people in the city are diagnosed with cancer, and 100 residents die from the disease.

The incidence rate of cancer is not increasing in young people. Only 13 percent of cancer patients are under 50 years old.
