China's meteorological authority on Sunday lifted a blue alert for blizzards that have swept many parts of the country.

However, slight snow will hit the eastern parts of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Guizhou, regions to the south of the Yangtze River and the northern parts of southern China on Sunday and Monday, the National Meteorological Center said.

In the coming three days, rain and snow will continue in southern China, but will abate remarkably.

In the next week, cold fronts will be active and most parts will see temperatures 1 to 3 degrees Celsius lower than the averages in the previous years and the temperatures will pick up after Feb 15, it said.

China's meteorological alerts are categorized as blue, yellow, orange and red in order of increasing severity.
