Flight cancellations and delays due to heavy snow in Zhengzhou, Henan province, caused chaos at the city's airport on Thursday.

According to Henan Business Daily, an inquiry counter at the Xinzheng International Airport was smashed by angry passengers and a female passenger even broke into the airport dispatcher's office and poured water on a staff member in her rage.

The flight disruptions came as people were rushing to return to work after spending the weeklong Spring Festival holiday at their hometowns.

According to the newspaper, more than 2,000 passengers were stranded at the airport, as heavy snow forced closures several times on Thursday.

Some passengers were trapped there for more than 12 hours, and were asked to board and disembark flights several times due to the chaos.
