In 2013, about a hundred million international trips has made by Chinese tourists. And that number is expected to double in the next decade and a half. Per-capita GDP is increasing, and so are allotted vacation days.

According to a report from brokerage and investment group CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, the number of outbound Chinese tourists is expected to reach two hundred million. And their spending will triple by 2020.

In 2012, the US was the top travel destination with 1.5 million visitors, and France came in second with 1.3 million. It's predicted that by 2020, the US will see 5.7 million Chinese visitors and France 3.9 million.

Closer to home, Chinese mainland travellers list Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore as their top destinations for the next three years. Shopping remains a major priority, with tourists making two-thirds of their luxury goods purchases overseas.
