A former deliveryman in Wuhan, Hubei province, has been detained on suspicion of theft, Wuhan Morning Post reported on Tuesday.

The suspect, surnamed Jiang, 22, allegedly climbed pipelines on walls of dormitories in universities 20 times and stole from students, the report said.

In October, students at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music reported to police they had lost more than 7,000 yuan ($1,157) from their dormitories, according to the report.

The police confirmed the suspect was Jiang, a resident of Songzi, after viewing surveillance video. They arrested him on Jan 16, the report said.

Jiang, who was a courier until he quit in August, confessed the thefts to police, saying he had often delivered packages to colleges across Wuhan and was familiar with every campus environment, the report said.
