Six new infections around the country were reported on Monday, with two people in Guangdong province, two in Fujian, one in Hunan and one in Jiangsu. All of the patients are elderly, and some are in critical conditions.

As of Monday, China has confirmed a total of 102 cases just this year, 20 of which were fatal. Most of the cases are in Zhejiang, Guangdong and Shanghai. Zhejiang has the highest number of infections with 49, and 12 deaths among them. Health authorities have stepped up prevention measures, including strengthening sanitary control in poultry markets, suspending live poultry trade and publishing suggested steps on what to do when an infection is suspected. But they also say there are no signs that the virus could spread among human, and evidence showing possibility of a wide outbreak is very low.
