Smoke but no fire

A small fire on a balcony in a residential complex in Shijingshang district was extinguished before it could become a blaze, the Beijing Evening News reported.

On January 25, an elderly woman burned incense on the balcony of her 11th floor apartment, and accidentally ignited flammable material in the vicinity. After seeing smoke coming from the balcony, neighbors called the fire department. The firefighters arrived in time to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to indoor spaces or adjoining apartments. The old lady suffered no injuries.
