Officials fired for drink deaths

A top disciplinary organ of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Monday reported two cases of officials dying after drinking at luxury banquets in Sanming, Fujian province.

Chen Ruixi, the ex-mayor of Sanming, has been removed from his position after inviting a businessman to a banquet in September, 2013, during which an official died after drinking.

In the second case, the president with the sub-branch of China Construction Bank in Shaxian county, Sanming, and other two vice-presidents invited clients to feast and one bank employee died. The president was dismissed and given severe warnings.
