Russian ballet in Beijing to celebrate cross-cultural ties

2014 marks the 65th anniversary of official Sino-Russian relations. To mark this occasion dancers from some of Russia's top dance troupes, including the Bolshoi, performed a selection of pieces at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday.

The programme included classic Russian ballets, along with other romantic ballets of the 19th century. There was also a contemporary twist, with some new creations being showcased.

The performance marked the beginning of a series of exchange programs between Russian and Chinese young people, promoting cross-cultural exchange and education.
