Five dead in SW China village fire

Five people died and 131 others were affected in a village fire in southwest China's Guizhou province on Sunday, said the local government.

A residential house caught fire at around 4:50 a.m. in Xishan Town of Congjiang County, leaving five dead from the family, said the county government.

Initial investigation showed that the fire damaged 21 houses and also affected 131 people from 26 households.

Relief materials including rice and quilts have been delivered to the victims.

Further investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
