Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Friday listened and commented on the opinions of scholars and businesspeople regarding the government's work in 2013.

Li stressed that policies and planning this year will focus on maintaining economic expansion in a rational range, to provide stable market expectations.

He highlighted valuing people's interests with less administrative intervention and rash decision-making, as well as building and monitoring fair competition for new industries and businesses.

Scholars and businesspeople from colleges, research institutions and enterprises agreed that innovative macro regulation improved confidence in the market, which stabilized the country's economic development.

They warned of existing risks of economic downturn and inflation, and suggested enhancing supply management and better guidance on market expectation.

The experts also expressed their ideas about more scientific innovation, better urbanization, larger housing supply, wider adoption of negative list management and stricter supervision of food safety and environmental protection.

Meanwhile, some enterprise representatives advised using the Internet in boosting the upgrade of traditional industries, and enhancing protection of intellectual property.
