Gas leak kills senior

A 75-year-old woman died from a gas leak around midnight Sunday, the Xinmin Evening News reported.

The victim and her 24-year-old grandson were rushed to the hospital after they were discovered lying unconscious on the floor by her daughter when she returned home around midnight. The victim's daughter said the room reeked of gas.

The victim died at the hospital. Her grandson later regained consciousness after he was treated in a hyperbaric chamber.

The city's gas department found that an underground gas pipe had ruptured, allowing gas to enter the victim's home through the drainage system. The pipe was later fixed.
