Discipline inspectors review anti-corruption drive in 2013

China's anti-corruption campaign has have been effective in 2013. In a press conference in Beijing this morning, official from the CPC Central Committee's Commission for Discipline Inspection has briefed the media about the achievements of China's efforts fighting against corruption in the past year.

By the end of 2013, more than 30 thousand party officials have been investigated and punished. Several major cases have been investigated, including former party leader of Chongqing Bo Xilai, who was give life prison on charges on bribery, corruption and abuse of power, former deputy chief of China's top economic planning body, Liu Tienan who is under judicial investigation on charges of taking bribes. Inspectors at all levels have heard over 1.95 million report letters over the past year. And reporting channel have been set up on the official website. China has called for bigger role for media as watchdog.
