Beijing will set up an online food and drug rating platform that the public can check. People who are found to have committed serious violations of food and drug laws will be forbidden from doing business ever again, the China News Agency reported.

Zhang Zikuan, an official with the Beijing food and drug safety commission, explained that this online platform tracks violations.

According to Zhang, Beijing surveyed 161,000 food samples in 2013; the general pass rate was 97.41 percent, of which rice and wheat flour both reached 98.35 percent. More than 85 percent of food and over 90 percent of drugs consumed in Beijing are produced in other provinces. Zhang also revealed that they will conduct research on Beijingers' daily diets in order to give scientific dieting advice.
