95-year-old is world's oldest man gets pacemaker

A 95-year-old man in Sichuan province has become the oldest person in the world to have a pacemaker installed in the left ventricle.

The man, Chen Zongyu, had a heart attack on Aug 31. According to the diagnosis, his heart disease cannot be eased by medicine and he must have a pacemaker installed.

Chen received the surgery in West China Hospital of Sichuan University and was been discharged on Jan 1.

Previously, the oldest patient to have a pacemaker installed in that hospital was 81 years old. The oldest person to have such a surgery in the world was 85 years old.
