China will stay committed to its policy of protecting arable land in the coming years. Officials from the Ministry of Land and Resources say according to results of the second national investigation into China's land resource, the country still faces a daunting challenge in protecting its arable land.

"China is still characterized by low per capita and poor quality of arable land and insufficient land resources. Therefore, China must stay committed to its basic state policy of cherishing and reasonably using land, and taking concrete steps in protecting arable land. We will do everything in our power to stick to the red line of the arable land and the bottom line of food security," said Wang Shiyuan, vice minister of Ministry of Land And Resources.
