More than 2,500 civil servants in Henan province had opened Sina Weibo micro blog accounts by Dec 27, Henan Daily reported.

The province ranked third for such micro blogs on the Chinese mainland, according to a survey from sina.com, the newspaper said.

More than 3,000 Party and government departments and organizations in the province also opened official micro blogs, helping to make their operations more transparent. That figure was fifth on the mainland.

The large number of micro blog accounts opened by local Party and government departments and organizations and public servants have played a large role in contacting local residents and offering better services.

South China's Guangdong province, which borders Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, ranked first in the mainland for opening government micro blog accounts. A total of 9,191 Party and government departments and organizations in Guangdong have opened micro-blogging accounts.
